Design document for ROL Course:

Design Approach:

• Gathered hard copies of course documentation and other relevant information
• Followed prioritized recommendations from former design team members
• Held phone conferences with the Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to get their perspective on what our priorities should be
• Set up our own timelines for delivery of tasks to meet delivery deadline
• Worked closely with programmers and SME's to ensure we incorporated all aspects of the course for final version
• Spread out our time and tasks to be completed throughout the weeks and tackled each one individually by priority keeping the main focus on content, interactivities, and assessment
• Redesigned the navigation to met needs of this course specifically · Worked diligently with SME's and programmer to design the best interactivities within the timeframe allowed
• Addressed 508 guidelines continuously - alt tags, colors, text, pop up windows
• Set up review schedule for usability testing - relevant and accurate content · Constantly kept updating changes as the need occurred

Issues for Users:

• Internet Explorer preferable at this time for viewing vs. Netscape (useless at present!)
• Graphics will be updated as needed by SME's
• 508 Guidelines need to be 100 % for future compliancy as law requires

Chunking of Data:

Each page in the course has a naming scheme for chunking of content topic and hierarchy. (course, unit, section, subsection, page) and type of content. (tests, quizzes, images and modules).
An example is as follows: rol-u02-s02-ss01-p01.
The example stands for restoration of lost cormers-unit 2-section 02-subsection 01-page 01.

File Structure:

Within the ROL folder, there are folders for each unit and subunits. Each folder contains a separate folder for text, images, wireframes, and quizzes for that particular unit.
