Projects
There have been a total
of four different Immersion Projects - DoD, LAO, ProjectDEVISE,
and T/TAC Online. Design teams of 6-8 students have worked
on the different projects each semester. Past support has been provided
by organizations such as the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and
the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).
T/TAC
Online (Training and Technical Assistance Center)
Purpose:
To produce a low cost, low maintenance online delivery system (website)
that provides and shares up-to-date, timely, accessible and usable
knowledge, training, support and assistance for service providers
to children with disabilities in the state of Virginia.

Project
DEVISE (Designing Environments for Virtual Immersive Science Education)
Purpose:
To develop an immersive virtual environment teachng science concepts
(ie. Newtons' Laws of Motion) to learning disabled high school students.

Literacy
Access Online (LAO)
This project
is a federally funded grant from the Office of Special Education
programs "Stepping Stones of Technology Innovation for Students
with Disabilities Program/Phase 1 - Development" CFDA 84.327A.
The project
director for this grant is Dr.
Michael Behrmann, at The
Helen A. Kellar Center for Human disAbilities in cooperation
with the Parent
Education and Advocacy Training Center(PEATC) .
Purpose:
To develop a universally accessible literacy web based learning
tool for students ages 9 through 14 with disabilities. To learn
